Body Warmer

Body warmers were originally referred to as gilets and were typically a dress bodice that was shaped like a gentleman's jacket during the 19th century. These were usually very well sewn and fitted, and decorated with elaborate embroidery. Overtime, gilets became the body warmers that are common today, and the term body warmer refers to a sleeveless, padded jacket that can be worn by either men or women as a way of adding an extra layer to existing clothes to keep the cold out.

Body warmers can be worn by men and women, and there are a lot of great styles for both. A good man's body warmer will be a warm, padded fabric that is filled with down and feathers to create a fantastically warm body warmer. You should also look at waterproof fabrics and inside pockets that you can use to keep your phone, wallet and any other items safe and dry.

Style can be important to men, however, and there are a lot of designer body warmers that have high quality fabric and designs. However, these don't have to compromise on functionality though and these fashion body warmers still offer excellent padding and warm as well as internal pockets for your valuables.

Women can enjoy a different range of styles too, and classic body warmers can be very stylish. These have princess seams to make them fitted and well cut, and also feature the duck down and feather padding that keeps them extra warm. These can sometimes be double sided so you practically have two different body warmers in one that you can change to match your outfit.

Sometimes women don't like the idea of a puffy and bulky body warmer, and to accommodate this there are lots of light weight body warmers out there. These are quilted to keep them warm and cosy, but also to ensure they're not as big and bulky as the padded ones. These can even have fleece linings for extra comfort. Reversible body warmers can be an excellent style feature as well, and these can often come with a detachable fur lined hood for extra style and function.
